What the helll....

Okay this is just a quick post. But I had to share. I've been in my new office (in my new position...HOLLLA) for approximately 2 hours and I've come to realize that I work in an office with damn Republicans. Now their party affiliation doesn't bother me. I expected it...they are middle age and wealthy. McCain's aces in the hole. Now what I didn't expect was the constant political banter. "Oh I really like Palin. She's the fire we need." "Yeah, did you see the numbers. We got a good bump from the convention. It's only going to go up. "Hey, we have our own hockey mom." (said after I politely put my foot down with a vendor). "Should we book our tickets to DC now for the inauguration?" Jesus Christ of latter day saints, church of the Mormons (what I say so technically I'm not saying the Lord's name in vain. LOL). What have I gotten myself into?

You know I can't hold my tongue. I don't know how to smile and nod. There are going to goad me into a political conversation. I feel it. Besides visions of fat paychecks dancing in my head (and doing the 2 step in my bank account), what the hell am I to do??? Do I lie? Or do I wear my Obama button on my lapel??? I don't think I've ever worked in an office where NOBODY has my my political point of view. So I ask, WHAT THE HELLLLLL AM I GONNA DO???

Girl please be YOU! They surely didn't have any problem with freely discussing their Republican crap, not thinking wait, ummm....she may be a democrat. Its a subtle tactic to lure you into the trap. So if they ask, I would say, Obama but you guys knew that already, right? lol

You know, I actually worked at a contemporary Christian station in Texas during the Clinton-Lewinsky affair. Let's just say it wasn't the most pleasant environment, but it can be handled. I agree with Makeba -- never deny yourself. IF they ask you -- and I think that's a big "if" considering that they don't really care what you think -- just let 'em know and let it go.

Yikes! Congrats on the new job, first of all. Secondly, it's your right to NOT have to display your political views on your lapel. But if you think it's best to join in the conversation--why not just be honest? Either way, they'll try to peg you.

Rashad: I will NOT!!!!

Keba & MackDiva: You're right. I don't think it even dawned on them to care that we are not on the same page politically. But ummm on election day, can I wear my french connection tee shirt that reads "FCUK U, I'm voting." I heart that tee. hahaahahahaha

Chubbs: thanks on the congrats. And I'm taking the path of least resistance on this point. I'm not saying sheeeit politically in this office. LOL

congrats on the new job! :)

and lol @ your "technicality"

im so over political discussions i don't know what to do. I mean if you want to engage in intelligent discourse than fine, but if your just trying to push your views down my throat no thanks.

anyway i suggest the phone fake out, whenever palin or mccain are brought up, pretend u have an important phone call or text coming in. works like a charm.
